The North West of England,
a region rich in history and beauty.
back

The Lake
District National Park; most of the region is a protected area
because of its outstanding natural beauty. The region, dominated
by the lakes, forests and mountains, is dotted with small
picturesque towns and villages.

William Wordsworth, 1770-1850
One of England's best loved poets who
lived and worked in the Lake District.
Wordsworth's most famous poem about daffodils, composed in 1804.

I wandered lonely as a Cloud
That floats on high o'er Vales and Hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden Daffodils;
Beside the Lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
